For the Solidarity Area of La Casa Encendida, priority is given to actions aimed at improving society, essentially focussing efforts on supporting people and institutions who work with disadvantaged groups.
Finally, on the centre's ground floor we have the Solidarity Shop, a space devoted to the sale of Fair Trade products and run by International Solidarity.
The Culture Area of La Casa Encendida has four sections: Literature and Thought, Plastic Arts, Dramatic Arts and Audiovisual Arts. Together with these four vertical divisions there is a fifth, horizontal one: Workshops, Seminars, Courses and Projects, which takes charge of bringing together the different educational products and activities and promoting the use of the creative resource facilities available in La Casa Encendida: Radio and Sound Studio, Multimedia Studio, Audiovisual Workshop and Photographic Laboratory.
Sustainability is one of the basic pillars of the Environment Programme, which therefore accommodates the aspirations of both individuals and groups towards building a society more committed to the common objective of a development model that is more respectful towards our environment.
La Casa Encendida works in environmental education, and supports and promotes projects to avoid the degradation of the Earth, placing special emphasis on the urban environment. It also plays an important role in educating the different groups involved and raising awareness.
In addition to the training workshops, courses, forums and exhibitions, on the building's Rooftop there is a permanent exhibition, open to all, on renewable energy sources, and an urban ecosystem observatory.

The Education Area offers academic and professional training in subjects that are critical for getting jobs, such as languages and computers. At the same time, a range of courses, workshops and other varied activities is available by way of support for teachers and educators, with special emphasis on informal education.
Children and young people are also naturally much in evidence in this area, with activities such as urban camps and workshops to encourage reading being organised for them.
With these initiatives, La Casa Encendida seeks to provide an accessible and innovative service to the various different players in the education system. The Education Area also provides library facilities, including a Media Library, Study room, Young people's library and Information Room for adults.
