Inner-city gardens have become urban laboratories, but above all they've become places where ordinary people tap into their creative potential. A shorts festival featuring agro-stories seems like a fun, appealing way to discover the creativity that is taking root in kitchen gardens across our cities... Share your story with us.

The Humus Film Fest, the first shorts festival dedicated to the theme of "kitchen gardens and the city", is gearing up for its third edition.

Three and a half minutes to tell a story linking these two ecosystems.

This festival welcomes all perspectives and approaches to urban agriculture, whether amateur or professional, from surrealist or poetic visions to humorous or realistic scenarios.

The competition has 4 categories:

  • Fantasy: this is the category for your sci-fi, horror, animated and futuristic stories. It's the place to tell tales not even you would believe, to attack flaming starships beyond Orion... or not.
  • Art film: Filmmakers, this is your niche. Here we will include shorts that explore the kitchen garden-city connection from a more personal perspective: how a kitchen garden is born; the most poetic, surrealist or socially-oriented visions of these inner-city oases... Yes, even if no one but you will understand the film, there's a spot for it here.
  • Comedy: This category is open to any short film with heavy doses of laughter, irony or humour.
  • Documentary: if you want to tell the story of your kitchen garden, show how it's related to your neighbourhood, or document the wildlife that frequents your patch, then this is the category for you.

Deadline

Shorts may be submitted between Monday, 16 October 2016, and 12 am (midnight) on Monday, 5 March 2018, Central European Time.
