Wake Up! The Planet Needs You 2022

Climate change forces us to rethink the economic system. While some believe that sustainable development is possible, others say we are heading to collapse, and yet others are of the opinion that our only option is to slow down the economy to protect ecosystems, cut emissions and steer society towards regenerative sustainability.

But are we prepared to accept these new conditions? How does this relate to our need to adapt? How does it impact the European Green Deal’s target of reducing net emissions of greenhouse gases by at least 55% by 2030?

An excellent documentary and four experts paint a realistic picture of the current situation and possible alternatives.

Speakers:

  • Ferran Puig Vilar, telecommunications engineer and science commentator. He was chair of the Professional Press Association and has spent more than 15 years analysing the climate crisis and growth limits from different perspectives. He launched his blog Usted no se lo Cree [You Don’t Believe It] in 2009.
  • Giacomo Dalisa, director of the master's degree in Political Ecology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Founder member of Barcelona Research and Degrowth. Author of A favor del decrecimiento [In Favour of Degrowth], a book on socio-ecological transformation published by Icaria, 2022.
  • Elena López Gunn, director and founder of ICATALIST, a company specialising in sustainability and adaptation to change, part of Working Group II: Adaptation of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
