The Magnetic Terrace 2019

Derek Jarman, one of the most iconoclastic filmmakers the world has ever known, recreates a post-apocalyptic England overrun by chaos and violence. A pioneer of punk cinema, Jubilee is an explosive mix of history and fantasy in which pop icons like Adam Ant, Siouxsie Sioux and Brian Eno all make an appearance.

Jubilee, by Derek Jarman. United Kingdom, 1978. 103’. Original soundtrack with Spanish subtitles

Derek Jarman (London, 1942-1994) studied at London's Slade School of Art in the 1960s. He was one of the most emblematic figures of the counterculture, the visible face of British avant-garde, a filmmaker, painter, opera conductor, writer, stage director and champion of homosexual rights. A prolific creator of music videos, he worked with The Sex Pistols, Suede, The Smiths, Pet Shop Boys and Psychic TV. His filmography includes some of the most transgressive titles ever released: Sebastiane (1976), Caravaggio (1986), Wittgenstein (1993) and Blue (1993).
