The Library at La Casa Encendida, open to the general public, is part of the Fundación Montemadrid Library Network and has four different areas: Library – Periodicals Library, Kids Library, Office IT Room and Media Library.

With a total of 66 reading and consulting stations, the La Casa Encendida Library is stocked with over 7,000 specialised references on education, the environment, solidarity and the arts that users are welcome to borrow.

Opening hours

Library (Periodicals Library, Media Library and Office Automation Services)

  • Tuesday to Sunday: 10 am – 9:15 pm
  • Internet service on weekends is from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
  • * Media Library, during the summer months, will be from 10.00 to 14.00 and from 5.00 to 9.15.
    From August 3 to 18, this space will remain totally closed.

Kids Library

Tuesday to Friday, 2 – 8:30 pm.
Saturdays and Sundays, 10 am – 1:30 pm.

This schedule is conditioned by the activities programmed in the Kids Library.

Media Library

Media Library

The Media Library offers 20 user stations with free internet connection and 8 viewing stations for watching films and documentaries from the audiovisuals collection of La Casa Encendida, with over 7,000 titles for all ages and 12 computer terminals equipped with productivity software and the GIMP graphics editor program. This room also has a special station adapted to the needs of users with visual and/or hearing impairments.

Office IT Room

This space has 12 stations where users can work on their own computers surrounded by the Federico González Jazz Collection, comprising over 20,000 vinyl records, CDs, photographs, magazines and books that can be consulted in our library.

Kids Library

Kids Library

Children between ages 6 and 12 have their own space in the Kids Library, where they can enjoy our "Storybook Mornings" (for school groups during term time) and "Storybook Afternoons" every Friday. Plus, little ones (ages 0 to 5) also are welcome to come and play every Saturday and Sunday in our Babybrary.
