Natten is a Swedish word that means "spending the night". The night is the only time when people can show themselves as they truly are, escape the tyranny of time and surrender to a darkness that represents not death but life.
In a performance lasting nearly seven hours—spectators can come and go as they please—Spångberg presents his peculiar macabre dance: a journey into the heart of night, into an abstract eternity and fathomless depths.
