Nuria Mora appropriates the facade of La Casa Encendida using the nautical alphabet to construct the phrase Where Is My Mind?, the title of the iconic Pixies song. The intervention is part of the art programme of the MadBlue summit on cultural innovation, sustainability and best artist practices.

Where Is My Mind?, a track on the Surfer Rosa album released by Pixies in 1988, was composed by the leader of the band, Black Francis, while he was attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst and is inspired by his experiences while scuba diving in the Caribbean. He later said about the song that there was “a very small fish trying to chase me. I don’t know why—I don’t know too much about fish behaviour.” Although never a big hit as a single, the song remains one of the favourites among the band’s fans.

Nuria Mora (Madrid) is a contemporary street artist and one of the forerunners in this genre, although her work does not fit neatly into this classification. She uses geometry or organic shapes and elements in the public space and on street furniture in a constructive, non-invasive manner. Her work has been exhibited at international galleries and museums, including the Tate Modern in London, Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona, Centro de Arte Tomás y Valiente (CEART) in Madrid, Le Pilori in Niort, France, Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró in Mallorca, and the Contemporary Art Museum in Johannesburg.

The intervention was curated by Cooperativa Performa (David Barro, Mónica Maneiro, Iñaki Martínez Antelo).
