"Women against Impunity" 2017

The audiovisual artist will give a talk about her work, in which she explores social injustice related to racial and gender discrimination and other abuses committed in unequal power relationships. Before the talk, she will present the performance Presencia [Presence] in the courtyard of La Casa Encendida to honour the memory of femicide victims.

  • 6–7 pm. Performance of "Presencia"

I don't want to walk in someone else's shoes. I want to wear other women's dresses. This phrase is the basis of Galindo's performative project Presencia in which she pays tribute to female murder victims round the world, particularly in Guatemala.
The performance has been tailored to three different settings: Guatemala, Athens and Madrid. La Casa Encendida will host the session in memory of Mindy Celeni Rodas Donis.

    Place: Courtyard. Free admission.

  • 7:30–8:30 pm. "Body of Work" talk"

Artist Regina Galindo will review her work since the late 1990s, which began with a local issue in Guatemala and grew to address universal themes in which she explores the ethical implications of social injustice with regard to racial and gender discrimination and other abuses committed in unequal power relationships.

Place: Auditorium. Tickets available at the Information Desk of La Casa Encendida from two hours before start time.
