Libros Mutantes 2018. Madrid Art Book Fair

Libros Mutantes 2018. Madrid Art Book Fair

From 20 to 22 April, La Casa Encendida will host a new edition of Libros Mutantes/Mutant Books, the Madrid Art Book Fair. Discover the projects of selected independent publishers, including experimental, self-published and art books, fascinating design and a non-stop programme of talks, workshops, music and other activities.

Over the weekend, La Casa Encendida will host a gathering of Spanish and international indie publishers selected in an open call for proposals that received applicants from around the world. Plus, the Libros Mutantes Madrid Art Book Fair will offer a non-stop programme of talks, open workshops and music, including the publishing workshop Fanzine To Go and a poetry recital where participants will read works generated using code or any other computer system.

The Mutant Perspectives lecture series will explore contemporary creativity in the fields of design and publishing, featuring pioneers and ground-breaking projects in design development and studios and other proposals that are experimenting in the publishing world. The programme will include a mix of Spanish and foreign guests, such as the Norwegian bookshop and publishing house Torpedo; Mexican publisher Gato Negro; Rick Vermeulen, former member of the Rotterdam partnership of graphic designers Hard Werken; José María Cruz Novillo; and the graphic design firm Offshore Studio.

The mutant space Quiosco will return on Friday with appearances by Portable Print Studio, Ruda Print Studio and Christian Granados and close with a musical performance by Real no Real. On Saturday the space will welcome Futuro Studio and the DJ collective CHICA.
