Primera Persona Madrid 2017

From 12 to 13 May 2017

La Casa Encendida
Ronda de Valencia, 2
Madrid
28012
Spain

La Casa Encendida welcomes the second edition of Primera Persona Madrid, while the same festival celebrates its sixth anniversary at the CCCB in Barcelona.

The courtyard of La Casa Encendida will host the second edition of Primera Persona Madrid, a festival where authors of every age will share snippets of their lives with the public in a very casual, personable way. Participants will offer lectures, talks and performances prepared specifically for the occasion.

This year’s festival will open with the writer, poet and music and literary critic Carlos Zanón and Mexican author Juan Pablo Villalobos, two prominent names in contemporary Spanish literature. We will also have the honour of receiving the writer and musician Joe Pernice, who will tell us about his latest book and play several of his compositions for us, and London-based music journalist and writer Jon Savage. On Saturday the festival will continue as British writer and novelist Jonathan Coe is interviewed by writer and journalist Mercedes Cebrián. New York native Kate Bolick, author of the bestseller Spinster: Making a Life of One's Own, will be accompanied by the writer and cultural activist Silvia Nanclares. Finally, vocalist Ana Curra, the "Spanish queen of punk", will take the stage with emerging visual artist, writer and draughtswoman Alicia Kopf. These two artists, who may be considered representatives of dissimilar creative generations, will share their visions and passions in a tailor-made chat.

Directed by Kiko Amat and Miqui Otero.
