Women against Impunity 2018

Since 2013, at least 3,000 people have died each year trying to reach Europe by crossing the Mediterranean Sea, and in the first 122 days of 2018 alone, according to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), 22,439 souls landed in Italy, Greece, Cyprus and Spain.

Speakers: Helena Maleno Garzón, journalist and researcher specialised in migration and human trafficking, with a particular focus on women and children, and Anabel Montes, mission leader and skipper on 15 of the rescue missions launched by the NGO ProActiva Open Arms, in which she started out in 2015 as a volunteer lifeguard on Lesbos.
