At the ninth edition of “Wake Up! The Planet Needs You” we’re going to focus on all the beauty that nature has to offer and how to preserve it. Life is beautiful, but for how long?
Everything we like and enjoy, the most wonderful flavours and the things that make us happy, come from nature. We rely on it for everything: drinking, eating, breathing—in short, our very existence.
Yet the pollution we’ve created, evident in rising temperatures, oceans choked with plastics, the loss of biodiversity, deforestation, overfishing, etc., threatens to destroy the beauty we so admire.
It is up to you and me to prevent its loss. We can’t wait for others to solve the problem; it’s time for social action. But what can we do?
In “Wake Up! The Planet Needs You”, you’ll discover the ideas of leading activists, thinkers and wise men and women, ideas that will open your eyes to all the things you can do to change and act, so we can all enjoy the beauty of nature for many years to come.
Entertaining documentaries and interesting workshops round out the programme of an event that gets bigger and better every year.
For every ticket purchased, €3 will be donated to the Chontachaka Ecological Reserve project.
In the heart of the Amazon jungle, near Manu National Park in Peru, a Spanish woman named Magdalena Ruiz began buying up land ten years ago to protect it from lumber and oil companies and recover and restore its natural beauty. Her team has planted more than 6,000 trees on this land, and today they cultivate autochthonous species, educate people about biodiversity, care for animals, offer spiritual growth courses, help the local population and provide lodging for tourists and volunteers.
They need help to maintain and expand the project. At Asociación Despierta, we believe that we can help if we work together, so all of the funds raised this year at “Wake Up! The Planet Needs You” will go to support this project.
