Online, Talks

We inhabit a planet on the verge of collapse: massive wildfires, widespread thawing and unprecedented rising temperatures. We consume more resources than nature can regenerate. Our use of fossil fuels for energy is largely responsible for this situation. The need for a global energy transition is becoming more and more acute if we want to revert to a reality for which we are already late.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

At this online event, experts from the field will analyse the consequences of the Energy Charter Treaty, the demands of social movements and how to address the challenges ahead.

Participants:

  • Juantxo López de Uralde, the Unidas Podemos deputy for Álava and chair of the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge Committee for Spain's Congress of Deputies.
  • Claudia Custodio Martínez, environmental justice and social rights expert at Observatori DESC. She has a bachelor's degree in development and human geography studies and a master's degree in human ecology (culture, power and sustainability) from Lund University, Sweden, and she is involved in the national campaign against the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).
