From 2 July to 28 August, La Casa Encendida hosts the
Magnetic Terrace, an exciting programme of summer film
screenings, concerts and much more to enjoy under the open
sky, against the backdrop of Madrid's stunning sunsets and
vibrant nightlife. What better way to spend the summer?
Teresa Lanceta immersed herself in the weaving communities of
the Middle Atlas, and through their textile traditions—a
secret passed down from generation to generation—her eyes
were opened to a collective discovery that has helped people
to live, communicate and endure: an art marked by ancient
habits, motifs and rules which, when mastered, allowed
expressive freedom and creativity.
The latest edition of Inéditos, a competition that helps
young curators find their footing in the professional art
world by giving them the chance to produce their first show
and publish an exhibition catalogue. This year's winners are
Alberto Berzosa, Carolina Jiménez and Irina Mutt.
This exhibition, which will open in Madrid on 14 October,
proposes an exploration of works that draw on nature, either
by adopting organic forms or incorporating natural elements,
to reflect on colour and form through the plasticity inherent
to our ecosystem. The Natural Flow of Events is a
group show curated by Tania Pardo that meditates on the most
basic, contemplative acts of creation.
American artist B. Wurtz is known for gathering and
accumulating ordinary objects, mostly related to consumer
habits, which he later assembles and groups into sculptural
pieces. Rather than sublimating or altering the meaning of
these items for everyday use, the sculptures underscore their
formal quality and function.
