A debate about the entertainment industry and career opportunities in which developer Andrea Latorre, illustrator Emi Monserrate and live streamer Chuso Montero talk about their experience among the pixels. The music at this fifth edition begins with Peruvian artist Flavia Marsano and her cosy pop and bittersweet stories.

Imagina ser: videojuegos y trabajo [Imagine Being: Video Games and Work]

Enthusiasm and success, precariousness and crunch: the mixed realities that characterise the consumption and production of video games. Chuso, Emi and Andrea have built their careers around this form of entertainment. Their interwoven experiences exemplify a generation that has grown up around consoles and is looking for ways to turn their passion into a professional path, with all the highs and lows it entails.

  • Andrea Latorre (Madrid, 1992). With a degree in Video Game Design and Development from the University School of Design, Innovation and Technology (ESNE), Andrea currently works as a game designer and collaborates with FemDevs, an association to promote the interest and presence of women in the video game development culture. She has taken part in several game jams.
  • Emi Monserrate (Madrid, 1992) is a pixel artist and illustrator in the video game sector. With a degree in Multimedia Art and Graphic Design, he has worked in the field of mobile games with companies like Lucky Kat Studios and Neutronized, has produced content for brands like OnePlus and has taken part in indie projects like Goodboy Galaxy and Cloudscape. He is currently working for Soedesco on the creation of a personal project entitled Tomotama.
  • Chuso Montero (Madrid, 1995). As well as the audiovisual world, Chuso has worked in the video game industry in a number of different roles. He has contributed written and video reviews to Eurogamer and Revista EDGE, he formed part of the defunct Sindiecate publisher, and he is currently a full-time live streamer and no-hitter with more than 100,000 followers on his Twitch channel.

Moderated by: Clara Harguindey (Madrid, 1993) has a degree in Audiovisual Communication from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and works as a web programmer. She has been developing digital cultural mediation and gaming projects since 2015. In 2017 she received a grant from Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza and Casa Velázquez for Intersticios [Interstices], a digital interactive work exhibited at the Lección de Arte show. In 2018 she co-created desmusea.com with Daniel Pecharrómán, working with institutions like Matadero Madrid, Museo Reina Sofía and Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Conde Duque.

Flavia Marsano. Born in Peru and now resident in Madrid, Flavia Marsano turns bad days, sadness, smiles and happy memories of the good things in life into pop songs that will make you dance and send shivers down your spine. She has released four singles to date and has been chosen to open the music programme at this fifth edition of Puwerty.
