The selected works, chosen by Danielle Tilkin, include sculptures, drawings, prints on fabric, assemblages and cells, many of which are practically unknown to Spanish audiences.
A documentary about the artist and a contemporary film cycle round out this tribute to Bourgeois, which also marks the 10th anniversary of LCE.

La Casa Encendida of Obra Social Caja Madrid presents the exhibition HONNI soit QUI mal y pense [EVIL to Him WHO Evil Thinks], a survey of the last ten years of Louise Bourgeois’s creative career. Curated by Danielle Tilkin, the show is a tribute to the final efforts of this artist, who passed away in 2010.

The title is taken from one of the featured drawings, a kind of self-portrait in which Bourgeois quoted this phrase, the motto of the British Order of the Garter. A mysterious, evocative title that reminds us of the free spirit of this artist who continued to work independently and consistently until her death, analysing the experience of being a woman in the 20th century through her art.

The exhibition reveals the themes that obsessed Louise Bourgeois throughout her life and which she explored exhaustively, making no concessions, with the detachment of experience, questioning or bearing witness to a life and work that left an indelible mark on the 20th century.

Louise Bourgeois (Paris, 1911–New York, 2010) was undoubtedly one of the most famous artists of the last century. Her childhood was spent amid tapestries, in the restoration workshop run by her family. She received her early artistic training in Paris, surrounded by renowned masters. Years later she moved to New York, where she worked until her death. Her oeuvre was only exhibited a few times until 1982, when the legendary MoMA made her the subject of its first major retrospective dedicated to a woman artist. She was 70 years old.
Bourgeois, indefatigable artist.
