Madrid: Four Worlds
The exhibition Madrid: Four Worlds is the culmination of an ambitious two-year research project during which La Casa Encendida has addressed the cases of extreme marginalisation and exclusion found right here in the city of Madrid.
This ethnographic investigation has explored the social invisibility of people who suffer from extreme social exclusion, especially the homeless and sex workers on the streets.
In this highly complex project, the sociological and ethnographic perspective of the studies done by the New Sociology Research Department (R&D) at Fundación Pablo VI (Pontifical University of Salamanca in Madrid) was complemented by the contributions of several artists: Antoni Abad, Lara Almárcegui, Matías Costa, Shole Hejazi, Juan López-Aranguren, Rubén Lorenzo and Fernando Menéndez joined in the initiative, offering their own vision of a difficult and diverse reality.
