Libros Mutantes 2021
The book fair Libros Mutantes returns to La Casa Encendida from 23 to 25 April with RSVP (Répondez s’il vous plaît, Please respond), a new format combining a publications exhibition, an avant-garde online programme of events and an updated version of the digital platform Escaparate.
The latest edition of Libros Mutantes may be smaller but it’s more ambitious than ever. In a year marked by the health emergency and safety measures, the independent publishing fair organised by La Casa Encendida returns in a new format adapted to the new restrictions.
The publications exhibition is structured around four major sections, curated by national and international collectives, where visitors can browse and buy the best of independent, artistic, experimental and avant-garde publishing displayed in an installation created through the open competition Courtyard Furniture.
This year access to the fair is by appointment only (hence the claim, RSVP) in sessions of 30 and 15 minutes for the Courtyard and Tower 2, respectively, and in small groups. Tickets must be booked in advance through the different registration forms for the activities.
Libros Mutantes has always been more than book fair and this year is no exception. During the weekend of 23 and 25 April, the RSVP edition will host a series of physical and online events with hybrid formats spanning publishing presentations, an intensive creative workshop and live music. The programme includes a new edition of Escaparate, the online platform of independent publishing projects that emerged during the early months of the pandemic and returns now to spread the mutant ethos beyond geographical borders.
