FILMADRID 2017
For the third year running, La Casa Encendida will host the Avant-garde Section of FILMADRID, an international film festival that continues its efforts to introduce audiences to novel, uncharted paths in contemporary cinema, as well as a special cycle devoted to US filmmaker Deborah Stratman.
From 10 to 16 June the third FILMADRID Festival will bring its Avant-garde Competition to La Casa Encendida, premiering a number of feature-length and short films in Madrid. The programme also includes a special segment featuring Deborah Stratman (b. Washington, DC, 1967), whose films explore the history, landscapes and mythologies of different territories round the world. Her latest feature, The Illinois Parables, was hailed as one of the best films of 2016. Plus, there will be a tribute to Lav Díaz (b. Philippines, 1958) with the eight-hour film A Lullaby to the Sorrowful Mystery.
