FILMADRID Festival 2016: Avant-garde Section

Once again, La Casa Encendida hosts the Avant-garde Section of FILMADRID, an international film festival now in its second year that aims to introduce audiences to novel, uncharted paths in contemporary cinema.

From 2 to 11 June, the FILMADRID Festival will take place at different venues in the city of Madrid. The Avant-garde Section boasts a competitive programme of feature-length and short films, plus a special production about the cinema of Boris Lehman (b. Lausanne, 1944), where the filmmaker's life becomes a journey of self-discovery in which he assumes the mythical role of the Wandering Jew.

FILMADRID, the International Film Festival, was created with the determination to discover novel, uncharted paths in the contemporary cinematographic landscape by promoting and showcasing films with a strong art-house flair. This international competition is open to fiction and non-fiction films produced anywhere in the world, with a special emphasis on works that introduce innovative formal and narrative approaches, regardless of production format. The festival is organised by Paisajes de Cine, a cultural association for the dissemination of international film in Madrid.
