A Garden and City festival, a fun opportunity to discover the agro-urban universe of our cities.

We’re relaunching the Humus Revolution, originally scheduled for March. The festival is back and will take place in September. Nearly 100 urban community gardens have sprung up in Madrid to take root in our city’s soil.

These gardens flourish in vacant lots and green zones, between apartment blocks, in tree wells on the street, on building rooftops, at health centres and schools.

We want to shine a spotlight on these new green spots in Madrid, which still go unnoticed by many city dwellers, and also use film to show other urban agriculture experiences across the globe.

We invite you to discover what goes on in these oases of biodiversity and urban experimentation, where people aren't just cultivating vegetables and human relationships; they're also testing new, more respectful ways of interacting with the city, promoting sustainable mobility, composting, new forms of governance, environmental education, degrowth and organic buying groups.

And we’ll do it by running, pedalling, cooking creatively, participating in a garden treasure hunt, discovering the pollinating fauna that nest in these verdant oases, strolling through the old Madrid haunts of herbal wisewomen and witches, learning about women who cooked and cultivated in urban settings, or attending a Garden and City-themed shorts festival.

Join the Humus Revolution. Don’t forget to pollinate and photosynthesise yourself.
