Magnetic fields. What happens when artists encounter worlds they do not know, that unsettle and surprise them, and decide to create with other forces and incorporate into their work bodies and politics of subjectivity production that are foreign to their own and to those of the artistic community to which they belong?

Artistic creation, in all its manifestations, acts as a magnetic field where vital forces vibrate with a particular intensity that shapes them and endows them with their own geometry.

An image, a gesture; a memory or a secret; a coo, a moan; a pleasure or a wound, which remains and continues to vibrate in the memory of the body, can become the force of that magnetic field that constitutes sensitive production.

However, on certain occasions, these forces collide with others, coming from other fields, other germinations, other possibilities and other limitations, which affect and violate us with equal intensity:

What happens when artists encounter worlds they do not know, that unsettle and surprise them, and they decide to create with other forces and incorporate into their work bodies and politics of subjectivity production that are foreign to their own and to those of the artistic community to which they belong?

What forms of appropriation occur? What openings and risks arise from these unlikely encounters? What forms of work are created and what relationships are established in these new communities?

What effects does the presence of other forces that appear in a magnetic field have on creation itself and on its modes of production and reception?

This new edition of IDEM will be built around this notion of magnetic field and the questions raised by creation in extra-artistic fields with living beings belonging to ‘other communities,’ human or non-human.
