Puwerty 2025
Now in its ninth edition, Puwerty celebrates the work of artists under the age of 26 who work in a multidisciplinary and experimental way in contemporary musical, audiovisual and performing arts creation.
With the formula Power + Puberty, La Casa Encendida festival continues to be a platform for promoting young creators and artists who, raised in the cradle of memes and hyperfixation on smartphone screens, are rediscovering the need for manual and plastic creation and finding new ways to navigate the contemporary era through a combination of disciplines.
The festival kicks off on Thursday 16th with Cristina Moreno Vitas' Vida Galleta, the winning project of Bandeja de Entrada 2025, with a fanzine snack party focusing on the precarious situation of access to housing among young people. This is followed by the film series Juventud líquida (Liquid Youth) - produced in collaboration with ECAM and programmed by Larua Bermúdez, Ramón Riera and Marcos Vasco Martín-Grande, students of the master's degree in film criticism - to create a space for dialogue about growing up on the margins. A generational exploration of what it means to develop in solitude and in the contemporary world. Three sessions designed as a journey through digital communities, the exploration of gender, the place of the family and the economic precariousness of today's youth.
On Friday 17th, the textile illustration workshop with Agitad4 explores identity expression through the creation of textile amulets and graphic experimentation. Communicator Inés Rodríguez, contributor to La Sexta's El Intermedio programme, speech therapist and disability advocate, talks about the misadventures of being young while teaching a dance class.
Friday night concludes with intimate concerts by Elvira del Rocío, with folk-rock and shoegaze melodies accompanied by a stage design created by the singer-songwriter, and Plinio, who projects Super8 films while recounting passages from his musical project ‘Historia Natural’ through song.
Saturday afternoon continues with ‘Manual para dos cuerpos desoriantadxs’ (Manual for Two Disoriented Bodies), gameplays turned into lectures full of pop references with LasNenas Theatre. In the courtyard, the MIM collective, together with Jade Carmen and Carola, will perform a show in which pole dancing is presented as a means of expression for sensuality and gender dissent.
The festival closes on Saturday 18th with a concert by Puttaneska (De Momento), a musical group in which queerness is integrated into everything from their clothing and stage design to their sound, which moves through different musical genres, including punk, electronic and folk. We will bid farewell to this edition of the festival by dancing to jungle, jersey club and UK garage rhythms with KINARA's lively DJ set.
