This activity with artist Alvaro Urbano will begin with a performative tour of the exhibition The Awakening and conclude with a practical workshop where participants can imagine and recreate dream architectures with recyclable materials.

Duration: 2 hours

The light is on, but it can’t be seen. The corridors are walked in darkness, but the distant sound of breathing indicates that the building, though dilapidated and exhausted after several years of disuse, is still alive.

It is an invitation to reflect on how the body of a building and the life around it take shape, and to consider new ways of reviving seemingly dormant stories and structures.

The Awakening is the first solo show of artist Alvaro Urbano (Madrid, 1983) in Spain. The exhibition presents a scenario for reanimating a building whose life appears to have expired long ago. Here—where the structures and vegetation seem trapped in some abstract moment in time, where the building itself encases a pictorial and sound landscape that speaks of the past experiences lived within its walls, and where a pair of raccoons intermittently dwell—an endless twilight bathes the architecture in colour and brings it to life.
