Marcel Dzama. "Drawing on a Revolution"

28 Sep 2017

The exhibition Drawing on a Revolution proposes a journey through the artistic universe of Marcel Dzama (Winnipeg, Canada, 1974) while presenting for the first time much of his most recent production, in which the artist encourages activism through “revolution.”

In the Canadian artist's imagination, figures taken from popular tales, the world of comics and television coexist with 20th century terrorists, imaginary animals, ballet dancers and opera singers. Social and political questioning is therefore intertwined with a world of fables and complex narratives where the carnivalesque, the warlike, the mythological and the ironic make up an artistic vision that encourages multiple readings.
