Modern Vices. Ceesepe

31 May 2019

This book, with almost 400 pages, is a practically comprehensive and exhaustive compilation of the comics by the artist Ceesepe -Carlos Sánchez Pérez (1958-2018)-, accompanied by four texts: that of Alberto García-Alix, which evokes his friendship with Ceesepe and their years together at the Cascorro Factory; that of Onliyú, who was editor-in-chief of El Víbora and who explains Ceesepe's connection with Barcelona's underground comics; that of the critic Jordi Costa, who analyzes Ceesepe's work of that decade, and of the curator, Elsa Fernández-Santos.

His work in the field of comics was developed over just ten years (1973-1983), but its influence and resonance were not limited to that period and, today, decades later, it is presented as a unique mirror of the life he It followed the death of Franco and the end of the dictatorship. This fundamental period in Spanish history cannot be understood without the revulsion of what is known as the underground "comix".

This book is published in the context of the exhibition of the same name at La Casa Encendida, where his work linked to comics is exhibited for the first time. The exhibition was worked on jointly with the Lafuente y Ceesepe Archive until his death on December 7. September 2018.
