Setras

25 Oct 2017

Setras received the Special Jury Prize at Puchi Awards 2017.

Puchi Awards is an international project by Fulgencio Pimentel and La Casa Encendida that seeks to reward the most brilliant and innovative book proposals, without giving up any genre, focusing solely on their daring and their connection with different contemporary languages. An impossible and heretical book, Setras is presented as a study on the sound that emanates from the act of writing: a treatise on the sound action of calligraphy. Originally written in the Galician language and translated into Spanish by the author, Setras deploys his sentimental alphabet halfway between poetry and the scientific essay, focusing on it from points of view as seemingly distant as physics, the art of action, the absurd. and the free association of ideas. The volume includes a closed-groove vinyl record where each track becomes an infinite loop with a unique cadence, thus forming a library of samples for sound creation.
