Poetry Slash 3

28 Apr 2023

A recital of computational literature featuring machine-generated texts to reflect on new forms of writing, with Javier Arce, Marcelino Llano and Juan Alonso.

Target audience: General public
Location: Torreón I
Duration: 1 hour

The participants will read texts produced by code with the aim of exploring non-conventional forms of creative writing, as well as the many crazy and wonderful things you can do with computers. At previous editions, the participants have presented poems made by combining Google Maps comments, postcards that used NASA APIs, raps based on CAPTCHAS, texts crafted out of discarded editions of Wikipedia articles, and songs in which the lyrics were made by remixing pop songs.

If you like experimentation, technology and literature, don’t miss this event. To participate, send your proposal by 14 April to poetryslash.com.

Javier Arce works as a digital designer and spends the rest of his time creating personal projects on the internet. Marcelino Llano (Marce) earns a living by designing digital products. He started out over fifteen years ago and says he belongs to the generation that remembers the fleeting dream that was the open web, and he’s still surprised when his code works. Juan Alonso (kokuma) tries to make cools things with bits and electronics which he then releases and invites other people to improve. He likes AIs, birds, taking walks on the beach and using technology to invoke spirits of the afterlife.
