This online event explores the need to rethink the current tourism model to make it more socially and environmentally sustainable, as well as more resilient to crises and, especially, to one of the greatest challenges facing humanity: the climate emergency.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Speakers:

  • Javier Benayas, professor of ecology at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) and a member of the advisory board of the Spanish Network for Sustainable Development.
  • Karima Delli, member of the European Parliament for the Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance and chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism.
  • Aurora Pedro Bueno, director of the New Green Transition chair at the University of Valencia and a consultant for the World Tourism Organisation.

Moderated by: Rosa M. Tristán, journalist specialising in the environment and the dissemination of scientific knowledge.

The cycle is organised by the Green European Foundation (GEF) in partnership with Fundación Transición Verde and La Casa Encendida.
