Lolo & Sosaku investigate the possibilities of sculpture as an expanded field. The nexus that unites their work is the quest for an object in contact with its surroundings and with the spectator, an object that seeks friction and tension, exploring the capacity of creating new meanings.
Based on improvisation and the freedom of site-specific creation, their performances are thrilling experiences. Their modus operandi is to turn their work into a subject and use its mechanical materiality to reach transcendence, mysticism and the unknown. Electronic music is undoubtedly the highlight of their inspiration as a complex language. Shapes, lines, materials and sounds are assembled into motion sculptures that perform and acquire their own voice in an unpredictable continuous transformation.
Lolo & Sosaku’s work has been exhibited and performed at numerous venues, including the Museo Reina Sofia, MACBA Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona, PSA Power Station of Art in Shanghai), MIS Museu da Imagem e do Som in São Paulo and the Instituto Cervantes in Milan.
