As New York became the epicentre of the AIDS crisis, the art of David Wojnarowicz got angrier and franker, and his powerful way of viewing the world had an incredible impact on the struggle for gay rights. In this collage-like exploration of his life, Chris McKim skilfully blends the artist's paintings, photos, films, messages and recorded conversations with memories of his family and friends.
Chris McKim is a documentary maker, television producer and winner of an Emmy Award. He helped to create the hit TV series RuPaul's Drag Race as show runner and executive producer of the first four seasons. In 2016 he co-directed and produced the Emmy Award-winning documentary Out of Irak, and more recently he directed and produced Freedia Got a Gun, which was selected for the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival along with Wojnarowicz.
