Sara Marhuenda Barberá creates a space to experiment with the sensation of cutting soap with the hands. This project is featured in Puwerty 2021 and won Inbox 2021, the competition organised by La Casa Encendida to promote, support and disseminate the talents of young creators under the age of 26.

Duration: 5 hours 30 minutes

The “Satisfying” movement has emerged between the infinite walls of the internet as part of the ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) trend, which is defined as the tingling sensation on the skin triggered by different stimuli and is the underlying reference for this project.

¿Qué se oye entre el soap y el cutting? [What Can You Hear Between the Soap and the Cutting?] offers a collaborative meeting space where participants can sit down and experiment with of cutting soap with their hands; the same hands we use to hold our phone day after day, to the point where it becomes an appendix and extension of our body. On this occasion, rather than the solitude and distance associated with digital consumption, we confront real space head-on, focusing on how our mind reacts to the sensory stimulus of cutting soap. The thoughts voiced in conversations will be recorded to form part of the installation, which will comprise all the slivers of soap we cut together, once again creating a pleasant environment in which this playful activity encourages thought and reflection.

  • 12 noon – 2 pm. ¿Sabes lo que es el satisfying? [Discover Satisfying workshop] Come and experiment with soap cutting.
  • 4.30 – 5.30 pm. Installation. Discover the sensations the action has triggered.
