An Involuntary Trace

16 Feb 2022

An involuntary trace is the first sample of the new exhibition project for the space in Room A of La Casa Encendida. Annually, a curator or curatorial group will carry out an exhibition cycle that is closely linked to the present. Room A thus becomes a dynamic place, a new experimentation space for artists and curators with annual curatorial collaborations in which an idea or theme can be developed in the long term.

On this occasion, This is Jackalope starts from the premise of a trace that is a vestige, a sign or an indication of something that has happened. We leave traces all the time, whether we are aware of it or not. It could be said that we are insofar as we leave a trace; We exist (or have existed) based on the traces we leave. Our presence is perceptible regardless of whether we seek to be perceived or not; Our involuntary trace says much more about us than those signs we leave on purpose. Involuntary traces guide others, provide information about our identity, even if we are not present.
