During this session, the speaker will join the audience for the Spanish premiere of her documentary short Guillermina (Cuba, 2019. 17’) about a white boy’s memories of the black woman who raised him in early childhood.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Though intensely poignant and beautiful, the story makes no attempt to conceal the harsh reality behind this close relationship, asking why intimacy was not powerful enough to overcome prejudice. Guillermina had its world premiere at the New Orleans Film Festival.
