In the 1960s, Arthur Clarke said that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. For this reason, we tend to exaggerate when we try to imagine the future of highly advanced technology, believing that there are virtually no limits. Yet the reality is quite different.

Ramón López de Mantaras, lecturer in Research at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and director of its Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA), holds an MS in Computer Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, a PhD in Physics from Paul Sabatier University, Toulouse, and a PhD in Computer Science from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. He is a pioneer in the field of artificial intelligence in Spain.
