The NTCA (Northern Triangle of Central America, comprising Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador) is considered one of the most violent regions in the world. The violence in this triangle, though not a conventional armed conflict, is more devastating than in many wars, but reliable figures are often hard to obtain given the widespread fear and impunity.
