La Casa Encendida is a cultural and social centre owned by Fundación Montemadrid and managed through GECESA (Gestión de Centros Culturales, S. A.).
La Casa Encendida’s main objective is to respond to the interests and demands of a public that is committed to and interested in the drifts and currents of today’s world, and seeks to achieve its goal by adapting to global changes and anticipating new social and cultural needs.
To this end, it works – as does the Fundación Montemadrid, to which it belongs – in four main areas of activity: Culture, Solidarity, the Environment and Education.

La Casa Encendida is housed in a large neo-Mudéjar-style building designed by architect Fernando Arbós y Tremantí. Construction began in 1911 and the building’s inauguration took place in 1913. It was formerly a Casa de Empeños Monte de Piedad [Charity Pawnshop] and a branch of the Caja de Ahorros de Madrid [Madrid Savings Bank]. Of great historical and artistic value, it is a listed building enjoying the highest degree of protection under current urban planning legislation.
La Casa Encendida promotes the creative and professional development of artists and researchers mainly through open calls for projects and residencies. If your project does not fit any of these calls, you can send it to us using the form you will find below.
Please, before completing the form and clicking ‘send’, review our programming and lines of action, as for us to consider carrying out a project, it must be easily accommodated within them.
It will also be more likely that we collaborate with your project if it addresses contemporary issues, explores collaborations with other creators or researchers, spans several disciplines or lies at their intersection, and has additional co-funders.
