Climax the Musical - Mondiacult 2025
Fundación Montemadrid is taking part in Mondiacult 2025, the world’s biggest cultural policy and sustainable development conference, with the project ClimaX the Musical, an initiative that explores how culture can become a driver of climate and social transformation. Prompted by the question about whether childhood dreams and the educational community can be the first step towards a regenerated future, the project consists of a musical created by and for young people that translates the climate crisis into narratives that engage and stimulate them.
The process is being developed with two schools in Madrid—the CEIP Valle-Inclán in the San Blas neighbourhood and the Centro Educativo Ponce León, a benchmark in the integration of pupils with hearing disabilities. On 25 September the Courtyard at La Casa Encendida will host to a series of workshops facilitated by experts and guided by artists to give voice to the children’s concerns about the climate and transform them into songs, which will then be performed for the first time during Mondiacult in Barcelona. The songs represent the first part of a long-term project that will culminate in 2030 with the premiere of a musical created out of the dialogue with the children.
The initiative reflects the ethos of La Casa Encendida of Fundación Montemadrid, which promotes programmes at the intersection of culture, education and environment, encouraging collaborations between schools, artists and institutions. A high-impact project, it aims to broaden knowledge about climate change and experiment with new narratives and cultural expressions to communicate it.
Climax the Musical also represents a firm commitment to educational innovation and cultural rights: an experience that acknowledges children and educational communities as active agents in the construction of the future, while simultaneously underlining the role of art as an advocacy tool. At Mondiacult 2025 the voices of these youngsters will ring out in the form of music, reminding us that imagining together marks the first step towards transformation.
