Are you offended by a certain indie festival’s poster? Why don’t the people who snoop your stories ever say hi? And the folks who complain when you look at your phone, are they apocalyptic or integrated? Rocío Quillahuaman will answer these and other questions in her first stab at stand-up comedy. And to cap off the day, Aries will present her album Juramento Mantarraya.

Duration: 2 hours

Rocío Quillahuaman (1994) studied Audiovisual Communications and has produced and edited videos for companies (PlayGround, Grupo Zeta) and digital clients. She began creating “fanart” two years ago, and to date she’s drawn more than 200 portraits which have been exhibited in Barcelona, Madrid and Galicia. Her fascination with illustration and animation inspired her to create a web-based animated video series which she posts on her social media, offering essential insight into the neuroses of contemporary youth. After conquering the internet, Rocío has decided to take the plunge into stand-up comedy at Princesses and Darthvaders, where she’ll talk about her life and obsessions and present unpublished videos and obnoxious new categories of contemporary fauna.

Aries is Isabel Fernández, a multidisciplinary artist who worked with the bands Elecrobikinis and Charades before striking out on her own to release the solo albums La magia bruta (2012), Mermelada Dorada (2014) and Adieu or Die (2016), featuring a melodic pop sound with psychedelic and electronic overtones. After an intense year—in which she composed the soundtracks for the PlayStation game Melbits World and Stella McCartney’s short film Saturn Is Not That Far Away and sang for the Cartoon Network show Adventure Time—Aries is coming to Princesses and Darthvaders to present her album Juramento Mantarraya, with an exciting orchestral blend of soul and free-jazz rhythms, 1960s “girl-group” melodies, sunshine pop and experimental electronic sounds.
