La Casa Encendida welcomes the fifth edition of the festival that uses guerrilla culture and humour to talk about feminisms. The line-up includes Mona Eltahawy, Najat El Hachmi, IRA, Ajuar and Aries, Manuela D'Avila and Gabriela Wiener, the stand-up comedy of Rocío Quillahuaman and Irantzu Varela, and María Von Touceda and Brigitte Vasallo in “Vermouth, Press and Blablabla”.

This year, the Princesses and Darthvaders festival aims to explore the issues that feminism faces today: identities, precariousness, maternities and the transformation of bodies. Mona Eltahawy and Najat El Hachmi will talk about women’s rights in the Arab world, sexuality, and the representation of Islam and feminism in the media. Brazilian activist and politician Manuela D’Avila will converse with the writer Gabriela Wiener about maternities and struggle in these troubled times, when neo-fascist movements are on the rise. IRA will channel the force of contemporary rap, while Aries will unveil her latest album, Juramento Mantarraya.

And, as it should be at Princesses and Darthvaders, stand-up comedy will be provided by Irantzu Varela and Rocío Quillahuaman, with brand-new acts for the occasion. In addition, the now legendary aperitif-session “Vermouth, Press and Blablabla” will return with its humorous review of current affairs, and Patricia Horrillo will organise a live feminist edit-a-thon.
