A spontaneous, fresh and laid-back film starring two popular American actors, Michael Cera and Gaby Hoffman, accompanied by three of director Sebastián Silva’s brothers. Cera plays a neurotic, stubborn and egotistical youth obsessed with trying the magical drug, while Hoffman is the Crystal Fairy of the title, a mystical and free-spirited New Age hippie. Their personalities clash, which makes for difficult situations during the road trip.
Sebastián Silva (Chile, 1979). A screenwriter, director, painter and musician, Silva studied cinematography at Chile’s national film school. He made his directorial debut in 2007 with Life Kills Me and two years later directed The Maid, winning more than 20 international awards for this film. Other titles of his career include Old Cats (2010), Magic Magic (2013), Nasty Baby (2015), and Crystal Fairy & The Magical Cactus, which won the best film direction award at the Sundance Festival.
