Ale Hop’s electronic music is a fusion of pop melodies crackling with noise, field recordings and a complex repertoire of techniques with unconventional instruments and synthesisers, all of which culminate in an intensely physical performance saturated with layers of distortion.

Her latest work, The Life of Insects, is the product of months in her home recording studio, surrounded by terrariums filled with insects that inspired her to portray the imaginary life of these animals. The result is an extraordinary album of DIY and art-garden pop.
Ale Hop is a Peruvian experimental artist, researcher and instrumentalist based in Berlin. She began her career in 2000 on Lima's underground scene, performing with different pop, punk and electronic bands. In 2012 she branched out as a solo artist after enrolling at the Red Bull Music Academy. Today, as well as recording albums and performing live, she composes music for films and dance pieces and researches sound, art and technology in a wide variety of formats.
Ale Hop has a bachelor's degree in art history from the National University of San Marcos (Peru) and a master's degree in sound studies from the Berlin University of the Arts. She has also undertaken postgraduate studies in the history and theory of science and technology at the Technical University of Berlin. She is the co-curator of the Radical Sounds Latin America festival and editor of the publication Border-Listening (Escucha-Liminal).
