In Ekomane’s installations and live performances, sound acts as an element that transforms the space and the audience. At La Casa Encendida she will present one of her quadraphonic performances, which seek a cathartic effect through the perception of rhythmic structures and the interchange of noise and melody.

Duration: 45 minutes

Her ever-changing, immersive soundscapes are grounded in questions such as the relationship between individual perception and collective dynamics or the investigation of listening expectations and their societal roots.

Jessica Ekomane is a French-born sound artist and electronic musician based in Berlin. She was one of six composers whom Natascha Süder Happelman chose as collaborators for her installation in the German Pavilion at the 2019 Venice Biennale, the other five being Maurice Louca, DJ Marfox, Jako Maron, Tisha Mukarji and Elnaz Seyedi. She was also on the SHAPE platform’s roster of artists for 2019. Her work has been presented at various events and venues in Asia, Australia and Europe, including CTM and KW (Berlin), Ars Electronica (Linz), Dommune (Tokyo) and MUMA (Melbourne).
