Odete’s sets are somewhere between anime soundtracks with lots of reverb, distorted voices telling tales of heartbreak, opera singing with no technique, and future sounds.

Duration: 1 hour

She describes her music as a philosophy for weary youth, a ghost warrior that becomes visible through her mixes. Failure, silence, brokenness and emptiness are the basis of her queer dramaturgy.

Multidisciplinary artist Odete (Porto, 1995) is active in the fields of music, visual arts, performance and theatre. Her explicitly autobiographical work highlights the boundary between the personal and the political. In 2022 she released her latest single, “Extraño”, with Paul Marmota. Previous EPs and albums include The Consequences of a Blood Language, Water Bender (New Scenery, 2020), To Those Who Are Paranoid, Broken, Bored (Self-release, 2019) and Amarração (Rotten:Fresh). She is part of the 2021-2022 SHAPE platform for innovative music, supported by the EU’s Creative Europe programme. She recently won the RExFORM performance grant and presented her project On Revelations and Muddy Becomings at the MAAT and at the 2021 BoCA Biennial.
