A conversation on music programming within the European context
Elisa Luengo (Dekmantel, De School), programmer and curator of Electrónica en Abril, moderates a conversation between key figures from the national and international scenes to examine how a line-up is built today: the criteria that come into play, the tensions that shape the process, and the ways in which the context, market and identity of each project influence programming decisions.
Music programming involves far more than simply selecting names. It means defining a curatorial vision, taking risks, negotiating within budget constraints and responding to a specific cultural ecosystem. This roundtable will explore the structural differences between programming in Spain and in other European contexts, as well as the dynamics of funding, relationships with agencies, the construction of artistic identity, and the balance between local and international talent.
From the Spanish scene, participants include Mar Rojo, founder of the agency Las Olas, with extensive experience in management, booking and programming for venues and festivals, and Marc Ventosa, head of programming at Last Tour, the promoter behind festivals such as BBK Live. Joining them are programmers from international festivals, including Rutger Smitshuijzen of Dekmantel (Netherlands) and Bia de Sousa of Kiosk Radio (Belgium), who will share their perspectives on curatorial models in other territories and the criteria that shape their respective artistic lines.
A conversation that unpacks what programming really means today and how a line-up takes shape when curatorial vision, context and cultural responsibility intersect.
Free admission until capacity is reached.
The roundtable will be held in English.
