An introduction to the production and creative processes of Marina Herlop, focused on the technical analysis of composition and the psychological dimension that runs through the artistic practice of the Catalan artist.
In this masterclass, Marina Herlop shares both technical tools and personal reflections on musical creation. The session addresses specific aspects of her work such as harmony, melody, instrumentation and structural development, unpacking how she builds her compositions from the initial idea to the final form.
Alongside this technical dimension, the masterclass also opens a space to discuss the creative process from a more psychological perspective: resilience in the face of creative block, managing frustration, the role of the ego and the relationship with self-demand. The session is conceived as an opportunity to understand production not only as a matter of software and method, but as an ongoing exercise in exploration, vulnerability and decision-making.
Marina Herlop is a composer, pianist and producer based in Barcelona whose music moves between classical tradition, vocal experimentation and contemporary electronics. With albums such as Pripyat and Nekkuja, she has developed a distinctive language that combines pianistic virtuosity, digital manipulation and a radical approach to the voice as a central instrument. Her work has been presented at festivals such as Sónar, Unsound and Rewire, and has become one of the most singular proposals within the European experimental scene.
The workshop is aimed at people interested in composition and music production.
